I'll Give Ya Feedback...

I'm not even going to title this one properly. I'm not even going to pretty it up. This is what has happened as far as "customer service" goes with XIV...

First.. let's start with my Customer Service call (mind you that there have been calls before this, but let's just float with this one.

[_CHATLOG_][14:46:39] Agent Chris F.: Hello, David, thank you for contacting SQUARE ENIX Customer Support. Just a few moments while I review your question, please.
[14:47:17] Agent Chris F.: I can understand how frustrating this must be for you.
[14:47:36] Agent Chris F.: I wish there was more we could do for you today. Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with any sort of ingame inquiry or help here at the Support Center.
[14:47:56] Agent Chris F.: We suggest you consult online guides, community sites, or even other players. If you are still receiving an error or having issues you may want to contact a Game Master via the /helpdesk command ingame.
[14:48:05] David Perez: Perhaps you'd like to hear what the issue is in better detail?
[14:48:47] Agent Chris F.: if you would like. It appears that there is a particular character name that you are unable to grant a character, is that correct?
[14:49:30] David Perez: Yes, but for a reason that is not so common as one would think. It's been denied across the board on all possible servers, past and present, during closed, open, and even public release versions.
[14:49:36] David Perez: The name is *not* in use
[14:49:51] David Perez: and it meets the criteria of greater than three and less than fifteen characters for given and surname
[14:50:07] David Perez: I was told in the past that it was due to some "auto check" process
[14:50:13] David Perez: and that a GM could assist me in changing the name.
[14:50:22] David Perez: gauranteed to change the name, just not gauranteed the name I wanted
[14:50:29] David Perez: I contacted a GM and they informed me that I was mislead
[14:50:51] Agent Chris F.: Unfortunately, I would not have any information in regards to this. If a name is not available my suggestion would be to try another name.
[14:51:15] David Perez: I would humbly ask that you point me towards someone who can help me.
[14:51:16] Agent Chris F.: I apologize for the difficulty of this system and again, I wish there was more we could do for you here.
[14:51:43] Agent Chris F.: You may send an inquiry through Square Enix Support Center by going to the FINAL FANTASY XIV title page, select 'Contact Us', then select 'Submit Feedback'.
[14:52:14] Agent Chris F.: A Game Master is the only one who would have the tools to assist you with this issue.
[14:52:16] David Perez: I'm sorry, but that's not good enough. You can't expect me to believe that there is no one in Customer Service who can better assist me with this issue.
[14:52:28] David Perez: in regards to submit feedback I mean
[14:52:38] David Perez: GMs are quicker to shrug me off than CS is most times.
[14:52:43] Agent Chris F.: If they are unable to assist you then all I can provide for you would be our feedback form where it can be looked into further.
[14:53:02] David Perez: Is there a way for me to contact a superior?
[14:54:16] Agent Chris F.: No one here would be able to assist you, you could try to contact a Senior game master but, that would be at their discretion I believe. I'm sorry about that, if I were in your shoes I would be annoyed too.
[14:54:33] David Perez: I see.. let me ask you this then.
[14:55:14] David Perez: I've been tossed upwards in the CS ladder to Tier 2 assistance before I was given the whole GM bit. Is there any real way I can talk to someone higher up on here? Phone?
[14:55:16] David Perez: anything?
[14:55:41] David Perez: because otherwise I spent 90 dollars to find out I can't play with a name that is literally not in violation of posted rules and limitations to the public
[14:56:04] Agent Chris F.: You can contact us via phone at 310-846-0345 with your ticket number 895709 for further assistance. But again, we are unable to change the ingame world or character names here at the support center.
[14:56:35] David Perez: I know you're going to suggest another GM
[14:56:38] David Perez: and I understand that
[14:56:59] David Perez: but I need to have a way to contact one of those guys or gals over there that can actually assist me instead of giving me preloaded company policy text messages
[14:59:33] Agent Chris F.: I am sorry that your experience with he support staff has been less than stellar. This is a situation where we are unable to assist you and they would have to direct you to the rules and policies which govern this process. If they were to make an exception it would be at their hands.
[15:00:36] Agent Chris F.: I wish I could explain exactly what the problem is or why this is happening for you but it seems from your description that the system is not allowing the name.
[15:01:18] David Perez: Indeed, and I figured that there would be some sort of bypass that someone with authority could just change my name to it anyways
[15:01:22] David Perez: and that appears to be the GMs
[15:01:34] David Perez: who don't even really talk to me but tell me that it isn't their problem
[15:01:46] Agent Chris F.: Again, the simplest solution to this would be to simply choose another name or a different spelling. Even if it is a hard pill to swallow it may save you some stress in the long run.
[15:01:46] David Perez: rather, that it's not in their criteria of issues to assist with
[15:01:57] David Perez: actually, I'm glad you brought that uo
[15:02:00] David Perez: up*
[15:02:15] David Perez: I've literally tried Sterile Zeales and it considers it just as bad as the original spelling
[15:02:22] David Perez: Sertile Zeales is no good either
[15:02:38] David Perez: the combination of any similar spelling of either of those words combined with the other seems to trigger a no-no response.
[15:02:47] David Perez: which no one has been able to explain for understandable reasons
[15:02:57] David Perez: but on the flip side, anyone who *can* tell me is unreachable by any means.
[15:03:15] David Perez: and as far as I'm concerned, it's not good business to have a crack like this one.
[15:03:42] David Perez: At first, I thought it was account related
[15:03:53] David Perez: which is to say that my account information contains the nickname Seritle-Zeales
[15:03:58] David Perez: my Square Enix ID is Seritle
[15:04:06] David Perez: I thought it was a block because of that
[15:04:16] David Perez: but I was again informed that that was not possible as they are not related.
[15:04:26] Agent Chris F.: While I can appreciate having a particular handle in the game, I am not going to be able to provide you with an exact reasoning for this issue other than it obviously is not allowed by the system.
[15:04:41] David Perez: is there maybe a technical issues department that might be able to weigh in and help me out?
[15:04:54] David Perez: or is that GM territory too
[15:05:07] Agent Chris F.: They would only be able to assist with software or hardware problems you are having.
[15:05:25] David Perez: So I'm stuck literally with the GMs
[15:05:56] David Perez: Is there any other way to contact a GM that doesn't require me to be logged in?
[15:06:02] David Perez: like do they have an IM system like this?
[15:06:15] Agent Chris F.: Again, while I apologize for this issue, they are the ones who would have the tools to assist with this and failing that you can leave feedback, suggestions, and bug reports on our website for further investigation.
[15:06:34] Agent Chris F.: You would only be able to contact a Game Master via the /helpdesk tool ingame.
[15:06:36] Agent Chris F.: Are there any other issues I can assist you with right now, David?
[15:07:10] David Perez: Let me make sure I get this in hard evidence for future reference, there is no other possible way to contact GMs outside of the client.
[15:08:24] Agent Chris F.: None that I am aware of. If you are seeking an name change or to report a name that is the way to go about it.
[15:08:55] David Perez: I see, and just to clarify, if I asked with this particular issue to have my name changed, they *are* able to do it.
[15:09:00] David Perez: To actually just perform name changes
[15:09:05] David Perez: not necessarily get my name.
[15:10:11] Agent Chris F.: I believe so, they are another department, but that would be the only way that something like this could be done. Again, it would be at their discretion.
[15:10:40] David Perez: So you're not 100% sure on that they even have the ability? a simple yes or no will suffice
[15:11:24] Agent Chris F.: We all have to follow policy, I know we are unable to take care of it and it is the Game Masters role here to assist with ingame issues of this caliber.
[15:11:58] David Perez: Yeah, but "off the record" so to speak, you're not 100% on their ability to change names though, right?
[15:12:04] Agent Chris F.: I am sorry for the song and dance but really, there's not to much I can do to directly help you here.
[15:12:52] Agent Chris F.: They have to change bad names but it may simply be a name reset, making the player go though the name choosing process again.
[15:13:22] Agent Chris F.: These are really questions I am not qualified to answer for another department.
[15:13:54] David Perez: I understand, glad you worded that sentence the way you did.
[15:13:59] Agent Chris F.: Are there any other issues I can assist you with right now, David?
[15:14:28] David Perez: Anywho, maybe I can find a GM that will sympathize with my situation. No that'll be all, and I'd like to apologize if I seemed like a hard-ass with you.
[15:14:38] David Perez: My thanks again for your assistance.
[15:14:40] Agent Chris F.: Thank you for visiting the SQUARE ENIX Support Center, David! Take care and hope to see you online!
[15:14:41] David Perez has left the session.

This guy wasn't bad at all, and I was a pain in the ass.. but here comes the GM call log..
(These logs go downward from the latest message in the bunch to the first one, so scroll down to the last block here and read upward..)

Call Summary Unusual Naming Error
Contact Time 12/13/2010 11:20
Details I'm no longer concerned in submitting feedback, which I have numerous times all throughout Alpha, Beta, and Launch Versions. I submitted this as a bug twice as well. No offense, but I'd rather receive actual assistance with what I would assume to be a an issue that is more simple than complex. Again, I apologize for my stubborn approach, but I'm no longer interested in preloaded messages that don't make any progress towards solving the problem.

Call Summary Unusual Naming Error

Details I'm sorry, but I'm not going to let this go at the drop of a hat. You know that the name is not in violation, you know that I'm being denied that name unfairly by the system for a reason that no one can explain. As far as I'm concerned, GMs are the only people that actually can assist me at this time. I'm sorry to be a pain if I am one, but I'm afraid that a literally identical response isn't going to solve the issue. I look forward to your next response

Details We understand that you would like to request a name change for your character. The reported name is not found to be in violation of the terms of service, so we will not be able to assist with a name change for you at this time. Should you wish, you are more than welcome to suggest that a voluntary name change service be added as an option through feedback: http://support.na.square-enix.com > Final Fantasy XIV > Contact > Suggestions and Feedback.

Call Summary Naming Issue

Details While you view that the name is not in violation, for some reason, the game does not want to allow it. So If it is not in violation, and I *should* be able to have that name, but it's not allowing me to pick it at the naming part of character creation, so that's why I'm asking the GMs help with being renamed so that I can have the name that I want.. which is not in violation of any of the rules or guideline structures. I look forward to your response, and my thanks for any and all assistance.

Details I wouldn't go against the policy to contact a GM if I didn't feel it was a situation that does not fall under a common problem. To make a longer story short, the game continuously denies me a name that fits the guidelines and the rules for naming that has been posted to the public. I have tried it across all servers from Alpha to Launch Version and it is still blocked without reason. I contacted the Support Center about it with the error code and they told me that only a GM could assist me. Please help me.

I'm the one that's actually sending differing messages as opposed to the same damned thing.

Now we get to today's Customer Service calls...

Agent Nehemiah: Hello, David, thank you for contacting SQUARE ENIX Customer Support. Just a few moments while I review your question, please.
David Perez: Sure thing
Agent Nehemiah: How are you doing today?
David Perez: A good deal annoyed, but I'm easy to talk to :)
David Perez: yourself?
Agent Nehemiah: I'm doing well and excited for the holidays, thank you for asking.
David Perez: Always welcome
Agent Nehemiah: I reviewed your ticket and it seems that you are seeking a particular name for your Final Fantasy XIV character, correct?
David Perez: That is correct.
David Perez: but there's a twist as you may have noticed heh
Agent Nehemiah: Unfortunately the SQUARE ENIX Support Center would not be able to assist with this issue via chat or phone.
David Perez: so I've been told.. to be precise...
David Perez: I've been told that this is GM territory and that you guys have absolutely no power over the issue
David Perez: but when the sheriffs of the land fail miserably and shrug me off, I don't know where else to turn to actually talk to someone.
David Perez: I'd be more than happy to explain the whole story in better detail if you'd want, but I'm not sure if you'd be any interested in it
Agent Nehemiah: I understand and I would likely do the same if I was in this situation. Unfortunately it still does not change the fact that we would not be able to do anything about a name issue here in chat.
David Perez: is there some other venue where this could be achieved?
David Perez: because I gotta tell you, this is as close as I've gotten to feeling like something was going to be done about it
Agent Nehemiah: Well, I can go ask my supervisor and see if anything can be done. Give me one moment while I check that for you.
David Perez: Oh thanks heavens
David Perez: thank*
Agent Nehemiah: Thank you for waiting. I hate to be bearer of bad news but if the name Seritle Zeales is not available then we would not be able to use that name for a new character.
David Perez: well why is it unavailable in the manner it is to begin with is what I'm wondering
David Perez: we're talking network wide unavailable, all servers that were are and will be assumedly for that future tense.
David Perez: I mean it's not like someone else has it across the entire network
David Perez: actually..
David Perez: to clarify, I had been informed that it was the result of some auto check process
David Perez: unfortunately, what it's checking for was unknown
David Perez: it doesn't hold profanity, fits the criteria
David Perez: each name between 3 and no more than 15
David Perez: my initial reaction when it first happened was maybe it was somehow conflicting with my Square Enix account information, but then I was told immediately that was most certainly not the case.
Agent Nehemiah: That is correct, your SQUARE ENIX account information would not conflict with the naming of your character.
David Perez: all in all.. I picked a name that is unexplicably unavailable and no one seems able to find out why or find a manner in which to correct a problem that technically shouldn't exist.
Agent Nehemiah: I understand but the fact stands that if the name is not available then it can not be used, I'm sorry.
David Perez: Can someone atleast tell me why?
Agent Nehemiah: Unfortunately I would not be able to tell you as we do not handle naming issues here in chat. That falls under the jurisdiction of the GM team.
David Perez: So let me ask this then, in theoretics.
David Perez: and this is a question I've asked before and I've gotten different answers every time.
David Perez: Should I somehow miraculously receive assistance from a GM.. since the name isn't actually taken, is it even possible for them to change my name to Seritle Zeales.. or even change my name at all?
David Perez: and no I won't hold you to your response lol. Everyone seems to be very afraid of answering a theoretical question about another department.
Agent Nehemiah: If you are referring to a name change then that likely will not happen. We currently do not provide any services that allow for name changes.
David Perez: so when I report someone named Shet Head they just delete the character?
Agent Nehemiah: To be honest, I am not quite sure on that department's procedure regarding inappropriate names and I'd rather not speculate; I would not want to misinform you.
David Perez: just asking for future reference, but I wonder.. can you guys identify the meanings behind error codes? Would that help at all to solve a mystery like this?
David Perez: I understand.
Agent Nehemiah: Yes, the support center uses those error codes in order to identify the source of a given issue.
David Perez: could you give me a moment to see if I can locate the code in my error logs from alpha and beta testing?
David Perez: or are those outdated codes now
Agent Nehemiah: Unfortunately you are correct, the error codes from the alpha and beta should be outdated at this point in time.
David Perez: hmm.. could I make a free second character and recreate the error or do you guys charge now for second characters?
Agent Nehemiah: Yes, you would be able to create a second character and you should not be charged for that character until billing has been activated for Final Fantasy XIV.
David Perez: ok good, I just activated the second slot, mind waiting another moment while I make the technically unexpected happen?
Agent Nehemiah: I can wait up to 2 minutes while to try to reproduce that error code.
David Perez: gotcha
Agent Nehemiah: Beyond that I would have to ask you to reproduce the code and contact the support center again.
David Perez: error code is 1003
Agent Nehemiah: Just to clarify, where specifically did you run into this error code?
David Perez: when you choose your name at character creation after choosing your server.
David Perez: it doesn't even take time to make it look like it went out checking for issues, it's a very very immediate response.
David Perez: just tried it across five different servers, all resulting the same error code.
Agent Nehemiah: Unfortunately, your issue requires Tier 2 support. One moment please while I transfer you to our Tier 2 department and the next available representative will be with you shortly.
Agent Nehemiah has left the session.
Please wait while we find an agent from the SEA FFXI Tier 2 OL department to assist you.
David Perez: 0.o

I like Nehemiah, very nice person.. actually makes me feel like I'm getting close to a solution.
Then he transfers me to this fucking guy...

[11:20:28] Agent Gene: Hello, David, please give me a moment while I familiarize myself with this chat session.
[11:20:36] David Perez: Sure thing
[11:24:18] Agent Gene: So the bottom line here is that you are unable to choose a specific name, is that correct?
[11:24:33] David Perez: yes, but for reasons unknown and it's across all servers from alpha to today
[11:24:48] David Perez: I had to choose a name I did not want in its place hoping I could get help.
[11:25:14] Agent Gene: At this point the only people that would be able to assist you at all would be the GMs.
[11:25:21] Agent Gene: We have no control on this side.
[11:25:47] David Perez: They have already made it very clear that they are not in to help me. Since I can't get help from the people who are supposed to help me with something like this.. I don't know where else to turn
[11:25:55] David Perez: I mean the name meets all the posted regulations
[11:26:03] David Perez: and when I try it it just gives me error code 1003
[11:26:17] Agent Gene: I do apologize, but unfortunately there is nothing that we can do on this end.
[11:26:30] Agent Gene: We have no control over the naming.
[11:26:38] David Perez: Is there another party that could help me?
[11:26:45] David Perez: a more official party than the GM's?
[11:27:11] David Perez: like what does error code 1003 mean?
[11:27:16] Agent Gene: You can submit a feedback request to have your information sent to the Special Task force.
[11:27:33] Agent Gene: Just go to our support site and click on the feedback option.
[11:27:57] David Perez: I've submitted feedback numerous times as it is, I'm almost positive that it's not on the priority list for the development team.
[11:28:16] Agent Gene: That is the only other option at this point.
[11:28:26] David Perez: I can't even find another person on the internet whose had this problem.
[11:29:12] Agent Gene: I do apologize, but our hands are tied and there are no other options.
[11:29:36] David Perez: I'm sorry if I seem frustrated, but I'm getting a little tired of hearing that no one can do anything about anything. Even the GMs told me they couldn't do anything about it, and they acknowledge that the name isn't in violation and that's why they won't help me
[11:29:47] David Perez: so if customer support can't help, and GM's can't help..
[11:29:51] David Perez: who does?
[11:30:06] David Perez: In theory, I'm not even going to walk away with an explanation as to what 1003 means.
[11:30:27] Agent Gene: That means that the character name has already been used.
[11:30:41] David Perez: across every single server from alpha to launch?
[11:31:02] David Perez: as much as I like to believe that I'm popular enough that people want the name that badly, I'm afraid that we've come across a serious technical eror here
[11:31:03] Agent Gene: The possibility is slim, but it is still a possibility.
[11:31:13] David Perez: ... no
[11:31:18] David Perez: I'm sorry
[11:31:33] David Perez: I have a better chance of finding a golden egg under my pillow
[11:31:39] David Perez: sorry again >.<
[11:31:55] David Perez: I'm just frustrated, I'm just looking to get help where there really ought to be
[11:32:22] David Perez: I mean.. it couldn't be an NPC or anything
[11:32:25] David Perez: they don't host surnames.
[11:32:56] David Perez: Is there someone else that could better help identify exactly what the problem might be?
[11:33:06] Agent Gene: I am sorry, but there is nothing that we can do and I have informed you of where to submit feedback on this matter.
[11:33:13] Agent Gene: That is your only other option.
[11:33:35] David Perez: I would humbly request that you transfer me to someone who might better assist me
[11:33:55] Agent Gene: There is no one here that can assist you with this matter.
[11:34:05] Agent Gene: They will inform you of the same information.
[11:34:17] David Perez: Then I'd like to see it from them just so that I know.
[11:34:40] David Perez: Since I won't be getting any help anyways, might as well see for myself that no one literally can help.
[11:34:47] Agent Gene: I cannot transfer you to another agent, you can contact our chat again and see if you get another agent that way.
[11:35:03] David Perez: I was transferred to you, how can you not transfer me?
[11:35:30] Agent Gene: Because Tier 2 is the highest. Tier 1 can transfer to Tier 2, that is all. [11:35:52] David Perez: I honestly thought there would be more Tiers.
[11:36:01] David Perez: what of a supervisor? are they beyond the customer's call?
[11:36:39] Agent Gene: The prior agent already spoke to a supervisor for you.
[11:36:59] David Perez: do Tier 1 and Tier 2 share the same supervisor?
[11:37:05] Agent Gene: Yes.
[11:37:15] David Perez: and there is but one supervisor at this time, correct?
[11:37:33] Agent Gene: Correct.
[11:37:47] David Perez: Must I also assume that they do not communicate with customers as well?
[11:38:20] Agent Gene: That is incorrect. If they are available they do take customer contacts. [11:38:41] David Perez: Might I be put on a que, if any, to speak with that supervisor? [11:38:58] Agent Gene: Unfortunately we do not have a queue for supervisors. [11:39:12] David Perez: Are they available now then?
[11:39:25] Agent Gene: I can double check for you, one moment.
[11:39:35] David Perez: Thank you
[11:40:42] Agent Gene: Unfortunately my supervisor is unavailable and he did inform me of the same information that I have already informed you of.
[11:41:10] David Perez: Is there another department that I can directly contact to find assistance? Aside from the GM's?
[11:41:24] David Perez: As this is clearly not a case that either department was able to handle effectively.
[11:41:46] Agent Gene: There is not another department to speak with, I do apologize. [11:43:46] Agent Gene: Are there any other issues I can assist you with right now, David? [11:44:10] David Perez: Afraid not, I would thank you for the help, but instead I can really only appreciate the time.
[11:44:18] Agent Gene: Thank you for visiting the SQUARE ENIX Support Center, David! Take care and hope to see you online!
[11:44:19] David Perez has left the session.

This guy was supposedly higher tier'ed but couldn't tell me anything whatsoever. Tier 1 does a better job than this guy.

After some fiddling around testing to see if I can find some sort of clue as to what the hell is going on and why the name is like being called Baby Killer, I find out that there are differing error codes for when I use my name and another name that I know is already on the server.

I decide it's time to call right back to see if I can find some answers.. luckily, I get Nehemiah again.

Agent Nehemiah: Hello, David, thank you for contacting SQUARE ENIX Customer Support. Just a few moments while I review your question, please.

David Perez: Hey sorry, I'm back again, I need to find out the difference between two error codes that I got while testing what the hell is going on with my name. Don't bother giving me off to Tier 2 again.

Agent Nehemiah: Welcome back, David.

Agent Nehemiah: Unfortunately, your issue requires Tier 2 support. One moment please while I transfer you to our Tier 2 department and the next available representative will be with you shortly.
David Perez: damn
Agent Nehemiah has left the session. Please wait while we find an agent from the SEA FFXI Tier 2 OL department to assist you.

Unfortunately, he gives me up to Tier 2 again and I get some guy who is as useful as the fucking flu.

[11:50:24] Agent Gregg: Hello, David, thank you for contacting SQUARE ENIX Customer Support. Just a few moments while I review your question, please.
[11:51:00] David Perez: I'm more or less looking to find out the difference between two error codes that are related to a problem where a name of my choosing is unexplicably unavailable to me across all servers ranging from when alpha test was in session to today
[11:51:20] Agent Gregg: What is your Square Enix ID?
[11:51:25] David Perez: I did some testing, and now I need to find out what the difference between these two error codes mean and what exactly they mean as preceisely as possible [11:51:26] David Perez: Seritle.
[11:51:31] David Perez: minus the period.
[11:51:45] Agent Gregg: What are the error codes?
[11:52:17] David Perez: The first one is 1003, that's the one I get that denies me the name at all costs, the second is 3035.. which happens when I purposely choose the name of a friend who already has the name I input
[11:52:31] Agent Gregg: What are the messages?
[11:53:00] David Perez: Both state that the name is unavailable, but I assume that since they host different codes, that they must have some seperating definition or something.
[11:53:38] Agent Gregg: We do not have specific information on those codes. If you are receiving these types of errors, please choose a different name.
[11:53:47] David Perez: Who has specific definitions.
[11:54:29] Agent Gregg: The only information anyone would be able to provide is that the names are unavailable.
[11:54:53] David Perez: So.. two different codes that obviously have differences
[11:54:59] David Perez: and no one knows what they are.
[11:55:07] David Perez: maybe another department?
[11:55:22] Agent Gregg: One may be due to the fact that the name has been flagged as unusable. The other as already taken.
[11:55:24] David Perez: I'll call whoever I have to heh
[11:55:36] Agent Gregg: There is no other department that communicates directly with customers.
[11:55:38] David Perez: now I assume that's speculation.
[11:55:44] David Perez: about the codes.
[11:56:25] Agent Gregg: The only option you would have right now is to choose a different name.
[11:56:51] David Perez: Ok.. so you said there's no other department that communicates with customers directly.. is there someone you can call to ask about those codes?
[11:57:54] Agent Gregg: What I'm trying to explain is that regardless of the exact reason, the error messages are the same. Both indicate that the name you are choosing is unavailable. Choosing a different name will allow you to create a character and begin the game.
[11:58:28] David Perez: I would bother to tell you the whole story, but it doesn't help anymore than it has the past four times. What I'm trying to find out is why it's flagged as unuseable [11:58:47] David Perez: because for all we know, since no one knows what's going on, it could be useable and it may be a glitch or something.
[11:59:10] David Perez: just as I was told that it was a possibility that every single server from testing to launch had someone with my name on it.
[11:59:35] David Perez: so is there someone you can call?
[12:01:02] Agent Gregg: I have checked here and we cannot provide specific information. The name is not available . Please choose a different name.
[12:01:05] Agent Gregg: Are there any other issues I can assist you with right now, David? [12:01:21] David Perez: That's all well and good, but you still haven't answered my question. [12:01:26] David Perez: Can you or can you not call someone?
[12:01:40] Agent Gregg: David, I have already provided you with a resolution to this issue. As it seems you have no other new issues I can assist you with, I will be removing you from chat at this time.
[12:01:53] David Perez has left the session.

He doesn't answer my question and then he boots me.. whoa buddy, I don't need *that* much help..

Now I'll admit, I started to get a little ticked at some point you can tell obviously, but seriously.. let's recap..

1.) Customer Service.. literally cannot help.
2.) GM's literally will not help
3.) Customer Service has nice people like Nehemiah (I have to give props)
4.) Customer Service has people like Gene and Gregg (Gregg being the much worse one)
5.) All in all? 90 bucks to preorder a game where my name is flagged with the same error code as when I try to name a new character "Fuck Shit" and no one can define what the codes mean exactly, are not willing to call someone, if anyone since that prick decided not to even answer my simple question, and now I'm more or less really fucked in a hole.

Now what do I do?.. I ring the fucking GM's ear off until someone can tell me why I can't have my name.. I don't even want the fucking thing anymore.. I just want an explanation damn it.

If ANYTHING happens that isn't the same damned thing as last time, then I'll make an update post, but for right now?.. there's your fucking customer service at its finest.

(I love you, Nehemiah lol)

All it Takes is a Spark...

I'm afraid there's nothing too much exciting going on tonight... even though I'm excited regardless.

While I was double checking the numbers for the new parts tonight, I remembered why, at one point, that I wanted to be a computer engineer. Now, of course, I could be mistaking the title for what I understand it to be in my head (which is why I researched it to a fair length), but it's most definitely something I still find to be fascinating.

To get more to the point as to where this spark of memory came from, it more or less popped up as I wanted to be sure that SLI (Scalable Link Interface) would be "comfortably possible" (a.k.a., technically/practically possible) on my motherboard incase I ever decided that I wanted to shoot for an upgrade before my system becomes entirely obsolete (in which case I would simply save up whatever money I would possibly be making at the time to construct an entirely new machine instead).

As it turns out my motherboard, once again as I can understand it at this present time, would not be compatible with an attempt at utilizing SLI functionality with two identical NVIDIA graphics cards. Though it would support ATI's CrossFire, but for some reason I'm a devoted fan of Nvidia's technology... seriously I don't know why.

**(Salary data not linked)**

Of course, this is not to go without saying that the salary statistics from the entry level to the up-and-up positions in the field are just good all around.. and for good reason as I would imagine that we're talking some heavy mental capacity to be able to effectively hold a grasp on the knowledge (some or all of it) enough to be trusted with the theoretics and implemented practice of any number of projects that would most likely cost sizeable amounts of money just to support the task and the final result.. let alone your paycheck 0.o

Closing thought on this is that I better have some greater capacity for the sciences related with this field of study and work because I suck at drawing.

We'll find out together when I get back to school this coming Spring Semester.

**Side Note**

Tonight, I'm sure you noticed I utilized the linking feature a fair bit. I hope it helped you feel better connected to the entry as a whole as that was the goal of their use. For future reference, linking will be used only at the first reference of anything I feel is appropriate to link and all subsequent references of any already linked topic will remain, obviously, unlinked so as not to clutter the blog with possible loads of redundant links.

Example being that I only linked the first "NVIDIA" as opposed to linking every appearance of the name.

and yes... the salary paragraph ran like a damned runaway freight train >.>b

Testing...

Alright, so this will be my first official continuation of a "coming back" entry in quite some time.

It's going to be a short one... (EDIT: I guess I sorta lied..)

Alright, so I've determined what parts I'm going to try and get to replace the failing and outdated ones in my system so I can do battle with the GMs (as described in my last entry... it's in there). More or less, I won't be gunning for anything major since I'm still a firm supporter of Windows XP (which means I'm not really turned on enough by 7 to want to have to do a clean install and replace anything and everything that I value on my current install). I'd say what parts I'm looking at, but I get the feeling that people always laugh at me when I try to get serious about my machine... almost as though they can't help but try to belittle me with their two f***ing cents.

Anyways, the performance of the new graphics card will run at atleast 210% the capacity and efficiency of my old one, so that will definitely allow me to experience XIV at a higher level of detail and beauty. I'm also going to have to replace the power supply unit for three reasons...

1.) The one from the original construction back in 2008 has since experienced cooling fan failure in the past few months (better half of a year).

2.) Due to #1, and this is assumption since I have no formal training or education on computer hardware and engineering, I believe that the recent crashes are because of possible overheating... or something.

**If you're interested the issue takes the form of video failure, and in the few seconds afterwards the system appears to crash as a whole as possibly evidenced by a very fast loop of the most recent sound(s) that were being output at the time of the crash..

Example - dah dah daaahhh daahhhh *crash* ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh - (as though it repeats the end of the last sound in the example.)

3.) The replacement card requires 450 Watts with a 38 Amp rating on the 12V rail and the old one from the original ZEAL 2.0 doesn't meet that recommended/minimum Amp requirement.

*Topic Break*
(I might also add that my motherboard has the ability to support multiple cards for SLI utilization so I can achieve a cheaper upgrade in the future by using two cheaper moderately strong cards as opposed to stressing over how to get enough money to blow on one (or even two O.o) of the latest steroid-packed cards which would be significantly more expensive according to my price research.)

In any case, whether or not my diagnosis of the issue is correct, those two parts will be the first to be replaced. If all goes well, which I don't like to assume despite my success with ZEAL 2.0's construction, then she'll be significantly more capable of the things I'm looking to do.

Also.. if I do happen to find a source of income, you'll be hearing about my ongoing (rather.. backburner) mission to make a machine that will be able to stay afloat until the next great breakthroughs in graphics and hardware put the would-be parts to obsolete status (which is what is more or less is about to or has already happened to ZEAL 2.0)

As a closing statement(s), if any of you who are reading this are looking to get into any of the soon-to-be or already released MMO's then I'm interested in starting my latest wave of adventures with you.

Games I'm *planning* on starting new('ish) existences of Seritle are atleast the following two..

Final Fantasy XIV ----- leads to the new "Lodestone" players' site which hosts more info than the old site.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Some Knowledge...

Alright folks, incoming knowledge.

First and foremost, alot of things have changed since my last entry. For starters, I no longer play Final Fantasy XI. I don't plan on returning to it and so any series related to it have ended. I also do not play Star Wars Galaxies anymore so the same thing goes for any related series to that.

(Of course, if it ever did make some kind of awesome comeback to rival Star Wars: The Old Republic then I would totally jump back in, it's a pretty good game.)

I forget if I had any other series started up, but for the most part I'm coming back fresh.

As far as my current gaming life goes, my dearest ZEAL 2.0, if that's what I called her, has shown signs of aging and no longer functions as reliably as she once did. Of course, due to a recent bet that I totally won, I may be able to make affordable, yet powerful, upgrades to the old girl... so expect more news on that front.

For those of you who are wondering, and I'm pretty sure my family never wants me to talk about the more personal things that go on in our lives, FSSG is no longer in action. Which is to say our lives have become infinitely more peaceful so I doubt you'll read anything more about pointless drama within my personal life. On the flip side.. I'm looking for a job so there may be more power ups to ZEAL than one might expect.

Back to gaming life.. I haven't really done anything hardcore as of late aside from Dead Rising 2 and Dragonball Raging Blast, and more recently, Dragonball Raging Blast 2. They're both loads of fun and I enjoy them immensely, but I look forward to the possibility of returning to the next topic...

Final Fantasy XIV...

This is a bit of a story, but I want to tell it anyways.

Ok, so to make things shorter for everyone, I joined in with one of the May waves of testers for the alpha testing for the game and have been involved, in one way or another, with the game since that time.

The game is great, it had a somewhat rough launch, but nothing that it couldn't bounce back from. It's even greater now due to recent updates and the like.. but there's one reason, above all others, why it is that I'm not playing it these days...

No, not because of my PC.

It's because my established name of 8 years+ is unexplicably unavailable to me there. Which is to say, Seritle started ages back when BYOND was my main source of entertainment... before Final Fantasy XI.. (that's a long time ago, Hoss). In fact, the very first existence of Seritle in any pay to play game was Final Fantasy XI, and I'm still damned proud of it. The surname of Zeales arose a couple years after in response to Guild Wars as a surname was required there. From there on, Seritle Zeales became my main personality and identification in the world of online. User names, email addresses, character names, they all start with that very name and only ever build out to established family members of the House of Zeales as needed when new characters are made to accompany Seritle.

Now that you have a bit of history on the name, you may come to understand why it is that I find it somewhat distressing that the staple of my alternate personality, the name of course, is unexplicably denied use.

I've done "battle" with customer service numerous times over at Square Enix on the matter, only to finally discover, through unpleasant means, that they are literally unable to assist with any in-game issues at the support center. Furthermore, the only people that can help me are the damned GM's (that's Game Masters). Only problem with that is that GM's are quicker to shrug people off with preloaded company policy messages than the Support Center is.

So it comes to this... The "powering up" of my system is step one in taking this battle to the GMs. Some of you may be wondering, "What if they can't do anything either?" Well I'll tell you right now that you couldn't convince me that the developers would actually incorporate an element of the game that is utterly beyond their control to alter. Now... keep in mind that this is a damned name we're talking about, not a whole system of the game. I mean this most likely is a simple change of a variable assigned to my character data such as the following (rough and most likely inaccurate) example...

User18924BA2CE == "Varone Zeales"

Me, "Can I get the name that I want that isn't against the posted rules and regulations that was denied to me by some anamolous system error or unusual programming case?"

GM, "Sure thing!"

User18924BA2CE == "Seritle Zeales"

**done**

Despite the fact that such a change simply cannot be beyond the power of a Game Master (who is basically capable of one feat such as restoring items or teleporting your character to different locations). Honestly, if it's anything like reassigning the value of a variable coded to my character's data, then I shouldn't have to put up with company policy or some "just choose another name" response. I mean it would make sense to give that response if the situation wasn't as f***ed as it is. Like if I put my name and then decided I wanted a different one, sure.. but if I am ignored on the issue of that the name I want is unavailable for reasons that literally NO ONE can explain or even know of themselves and had to choose a name that I didn't want in the first place, then you better believe I expect someone to drop the policy act and just change my damned name. Terms of Service or not, a paying customer should be given what they deserve, within reason of course, and not some horse**** answer.

So there you have it.. that's about the jist of what's shaking at the moment. Of course, it's getting pretty late, so I'm just going to post this entry in the mess that it's in. I promise that next time I will make sure to spend some time at prettying up my entry and make it functional in every aspect.

My thanks for your time in reading this and I hope it brought you some kind of pleasure.

See you again soon!

The "Inevitable" Return

Well, I'll just keep this short and simple this time, but I'm back! I honestly never thought I would post on here again about semi-personal things ever again, but so much has happened to me over the time that I've been away from my blog that I decided to just kick it back into gear. Allow it to be fair warning that I'll be keeping the series I started alive and I hope you, the imaginary reader, are all excited as I am to see what I spew on about. Anyways, it's late as hell for me, so I'll see you, the imaginary reader, tomorrow with maybe something worthwhile reading.. or some noise like that.

Don't judge me

Happy Holidays!

Greetings everyone,

I apologize for not having posted in somewhat of a bit, but the holidays are upon us, and I've been in a hectic mess with things going on with me, school, and family.

So, as a token of my apology for having not updated recently, I wanted to make a picture for you to view and criticize for the holidays this year. It's not much, but it's from me to you ^_^

Also, I have a number of things that have happened recently, so I'll be sure to post all about them here soon.

With all of that being said, I wish you all Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!

Zeales in Real Life/Vana'diel = "Novus Animadverto"

I'm starting to think that these series titles were almost useless, but we're combining these two today for the hell of it.
=======================================================

December 12, 2008 -

Today's title, more or less, means "New Reality" in Latin.

It's tonight's choice because today.. something happened that if you had tried to convince the past me that it was indeed truth, I would've called you an idiot.

I'll explain, in a condensed format, what exactly it is that I'm talking about.

For those of you who have been in Vana'diel since before the Level Sync update, you'll know right away what I mean.

For those of you who have just recently started with it already in place, then God bless you, you're a lucky bunch.

Today, before doing my regular Moat Carp routine as seen in the previous post, I decided to give this new.. "Fields of Valor" business a try with my Thief. So I switched my gear and jobs out to Thief/Dancer and moved my way out to the Dunes (Keep in mind I'm level 30 at this time).

So I sign up for a training regiment twice and it proves to be a useful little bit for those of us who don't mind soloing here and there as we can, now that Dancer has been created to answer that call.

Whilst waiting for a new Vana'diel day to come about, I was invited to a party right there in the dunes. "How Fun!", I thought, thinking of how training regiments would go in groups. So we all get ourselves ready and meet up at the outpost.

But something happened.. we didn't turn to the Field Manual at all.. instead we Level Synced to the Black Mage in the party who, at the time, was level 14.

After that, we ended up spending a little time partying it up right there at the Oasis until I went up about a level and two-thirds.

Just think about it...

I know I've level synced before at least once since the update made its debut.. but I was a little moved by the fact that I had leveled up my Level 30 Thief to near 32 in the Valkurm Dunes.

Really.. That's a sentence that was pure joyful imagination back in the days where I would've been sitting around Jeuno praying for there to be a handful of other people who were near the same level as me who also were jobs that would construct a party that wouldn't get taken out so very quickly.

It hadn't been until just today that the reality of a newer, better, and more enjoyable version of my home had set in.

I didn't know what to do.. I teared up for goodness sakes. It's just a game, but at the same time, it meant so much to be reminded of all of the things I've had the honor of seeing, experiencing, and living in my time here.

I guess what I'm really trying to say is that I feel like the future ahead of me is no longer as bleak as it once had seemed in the past. I feel like I finally have been given these updates so that I can finally have a chance at really playing the game instead of doing nothing but waiting all of the time for an opportunity that never makes it.

I finally feel like I belong at home again after such a long time of being away.

That's all I had to say really, so I'm sorry that it seemed a little weird and unnecessarily emotional, just came at me in one big rush!

Also, in regards to Moat Carping, I'm at four-hundred something, so I'm actually making some astonishing progress that I hadn't expected. Meaning that when I turned in today's haul, I was thinking I was in the three-hundreds still, but surprise surprise ^_^

Anyways, I'll see you all again soon with something more interesting... hopefully.
